About Me

Natalie Jaye Turcotte is an award-winning writer and director of psychological dramas and coming-of-age stories. Based in Toronto, Canada, Natalie is a graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University’s RTA School of Media, holding a Bachelor of Arts (with Distinction) in Media Production with concentrations in both screenwriting and television production, along with a minor in English literature.

Natalie’s directorial debut, NEVER & ALWAYS, won Best Short Film at the RTA School of Media’s annual awards ceremony in 2023, and earned her the Bob Johnston Memorial Award at the 2024 Eye2Eye International Film Festival (a $1,000 prize supporting film and media school tuition). Her animated short, HIS AND HERS, screened at the Tokyo International Short Film Festival, won Best Micro-Film at the Roma Short Film Festival, and reached finalist status at the New York Animation Film Awards. In May 2025, Women in Film and Television (WIFT) Toronto selected HIS AND HERS as one of eight films to screen as part of their flagship showcase at Cineplex Scotiabank Theatre in downtown Toronto.

Natalie has served as a Short Cuts Pre-Screener for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), a Selection Juror for the Independent Production Fund (IPF) and Canada Media Fund (CMF)’s Short Form Series Development Program, and a 2025 Eye2Eye International Film Festival Juror. She has also worked as a Film and Television Development Intern at Scythia Films (THE WITCH, THE APPRENTICE) and completed a co-op placement with TIFF’s Industry Programming team, where she supported talent development initiatives such as the TIFF Writers’ Studio and other key industry events.

Natalie’s psychological thriller pilot, 1-800-THE-VOID, recently began its festival run, and her latest short film, I LOVED A GIRL AND NO ONE DIED, is now in post-production.
